I LOVE this Craigslist ad.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I have a 1988 ford mustang lx coupe 5.0 5 spd car. Needs paint. Clean body and frame. The car does not have a tranny right not but I can throw one in for the right price. Bell housing and starter still hooked up so I can start the engine. Engine is 302 with a pretty big cam. 510. Lift. Car is from mass and I don’t have the title.
My boy bought the car for 3700 like 2 years ago and sent the title threw the wash and the dmv wouldn’t except it so he said fuck it and just drove it anyway.
I bought the car last week for the wheels and to have a parts car. 1600 with motor no trans. 950 for rolling chassis not motor or trans.
Emphasis is mine.
Any ad that contains the phrases “sent the title through the wash” and “he said fuck it and drove it anyway” is A-OK in my book.
Seriously though, is there a harder car to buy a decent example of than a Fox Mustang? Maybe an early ‘90s Civic, but that’s about it.

That's what sucks, it's actually not bad! But it's a shell with no title, so it's useless to me.

I ran into the same thing when I was looking at Del Sols.
EDIT I think there is a way you can get a title if you report it to the DMV I think. They will try to contact the previous owner and you will have to pay a fee and fill out some paper work.

I’ve actually done this (in Ohio) because I couldn’t get a hold of the guy I bought the car from and I screwed up the title transfer.
It was $350 to file a civil case in county court to have the car put in my name. They required an explanation as to why I needed a new title and an inspection (another $50) to verify the identity of the car. In a couple weeks, I had my new title in hand and plates on my car.
